Frequently Asked Questions

Most Little Tree programs run for between 8 and 11 weeks, depending on the length of the school term. Term fees apply to each program, allowing families to become part of a consistent group and enjoy the gentle rhythm that develops over time.
If you're looking for a one-off Little Tree experience, we'd love to welcome you to one of our Family Experiences, Holiday Programs, Paint & Sip events, or a private booking for a birthday celebration, family gathering, school group, workplace team event or another special occasion.
-
Little Tree experiences are intentionally designed to unfold over the course of a term. As children and families return each week, they become familiar with the rhythm, build trusting relationships, gain confidence and develop a genuine sense of belonging.
Casual attendance can interrupt this continuity, so we ask families to enrol for the term wherever possible.
If you feel you may only be able to attend occasionally, we completely understand. We'd be delighted to welcome you back when life becomes a little less busy. Simply pop your name back on the waiting list for a future term when you're able to enjoy the experience more regularly.
-
You're welcome to attend another session during the week as a make-up class, where spaces are available. Simply let our team know beforehand so we can welcome you and ensure we're expecting you.
-
Most Little Tree programs run throughout each school term, following the Victorian school calendar.
Our Steiner-inspired playgroups have a slightly different rhythm. Each year, they pause for five weeks either side of the winter school holidays, creating a longer mid-year rest before returning refreshed for the second half of the year.
Any additional breaks or holiday programs are always shared with our Little Tree families well in advance.
-
Yes! We run Little Tree Holiday Programs during the school holidays. They're designed to welcome children of all ages, with a variety of creative experiences and activity options suited to different age groups. Each holiday program follows the gentle Little Tree rhythm, with opportunities to create, connect with nature, spend time with the animals and enjoy plenty of fun along the way.

For us, bread is about much more than food. The simple act of kneading dough offers children meaningful work. It strengthens little hands, engages the senses and encourages patience as they wait for the dough to become warm, fresh bread. When the bread is finally shared, it becomes a beautiful moment of connection. Families gather, conversations unfold and everyone enjoys something they helped create together. Like many of the experiences at Little Tree, the bread is not about the finished product. It's about the rhythm, the anticipation, the shared experience and the joy of creating something with our own hands.

Yes! Spending time with our animals is a much-loved part of the Little Tree experience. We simply ask that parents model gentle, respectful handling and support their children in showing kindness and care. Learning how to hold, pat and care for animals respectfully helps children develop empathy, confidence and a deeper connection with the natural world.
-
Little Tree runs in all kinds of weather! Rainy days can be some of the most memorable, so pop on your gumboots and a raincoat and embrace the adventure. We have plenty of sheltered spaces to continue our activities, and the rain simply becomes another beautiful part of the Little Tree experience.
-
Clothes that can get messy! We paint, explore nature, knead bread, cuddle animals and enjoy being outdoors in every season. Gumboots are always a great idea during the cooler months.

We encourage everyone to slow down, be present and enjoy the gentle rhythm of Little Tree. Where possible, we ask that mobile phones be put away so you can fully immerse yourself in the experience. Of course, you're very welcome to take a few photos of your own child to capture special moments.

At Little Tree, we value the creative process more than the finished product. While we gently teach artistic skills and introduce a wide range of materials, we also believe every child deserves the freedom to explore their own ideas and express themselves in their own unique way. We celebrate each child's imagination, knowing that creativity grows when children feel safe to be themselves.
-
At Little Tree, we believe children thrive when they feel safe, connected and calm. Co-regulation is what happens when a child borrows the calm of a trusted adult. Over time, these repeated experiences help children develop self-regulation. Rather than teaching these skills through lessons, we nurture them through experience.
