Every tree begins with a tiny seed.
Little Tree is no different.
Many years ago, before I became a mother, I read The Education of Little Tree by Forrest Carter.
Its story stayed with me. It spoke of learning through nature, respect, belonging and seeing the world with wonder.
As I turned each page, something began to grow inside me.
The name was already there.
Little Tree Education.
At the time, I had no idea what it would become. I simply knew that one day it would exist.
Like every tiny seed, it needed time.
So it quietly waited.
The Seed
Then I became a mother.
Motherhood awakened something deep within me. It lit a fire in my heart and a longing to create the place I had imagined all those years before.
I wanted my children to grow up in a space where childhood was honoured, creativity was celebrated, nature was a teacher and everyone felt they truly belonged.
Little Tree was no longer just an idea.
It had become a calling.
Around me was an extraordinary group of parents who believed in the dream before it had even taken shape.
As I began studying Steiner education, they trusted me enough to learn alongside me. They brought their children, embraced the journey with open hearts and gently nurtured the little seed that had been planted years before.
Those mornings were filled with laughter, creativity, muddy boots, shared stories and children exploring the world around them.
Together, we watered the dream with encouragement, friendship and trust.
Without even realising it, we were growing the first roots of what Little Tree would one day become.
The First Shoots
Every tree needs strong roots.
Mine has always been my husband, Jase.
He has never questioned my early morning ideas or the dreams that seem to appear from nowhere.
Instead, he smiles, rubs his chin and quietly begins working out how we can bring them to life.
Where I imagine, he creates.
Where I dream, he builds.
It has become our family saying.
"I dream it. Jase builds it."
Over the years he has built labyrinths, gathering circles instead of corners, gardens, animal homes, pizza ovens, beautiful timber spaces and countless places that invite people to slow down, gather together and connect.
If I am the dreamer, Jase is the quiet strength that helps every dream take shape.
Little Tree has become the place where each of us has stepped into our authentic gifts.
Mine is imagining, nurturing and creating experiences.
His is building beautiful spaces where those experiences can flourish.
Like the roots beneath a tree, his steady support holds everything together.

Over more than thirty years as a teacher, working in schools across Australia and overseas, I came to understand something that now sits at the very heart of Little Tree.
People flourish when they feel safe enough to be their authentic selves.
That simple belief shapes everything we do.
Today, Little Tree is a creative education and wellbeing space where children, families, schools and the wider community come together to create, connect and belong.

Today, Little Tree continues to grow because of every child, every family, every school, every friend and every member of our community who has become part of our story.
Like the branches of a tree reaching towards the light, we hope Little Tree continues to grow in ways that inspire creativity, strengthen connection and remind people that they belong.
Our guiding belief remains beautifully simple.
